A day with the Spanish culture

Torrevieja

A town that is one of the largest European salt producers. Start your walk from the Vista Alegre port promenade, turning into narrow streets lined with interesting shops and good restaurants. You can’t deny yourself a visit to Chocolateria Valor serving the most delicious churros with chocolate and coffee in the area. Then take the tourist train to Paseo de la Libertad (tickets available in the train) for an hour-long tour. The train will comfortably take you to the vicinity of the unique pink lake (Laguna Rosa), where salt is produced.

The view of the huge mountains of salt is unforgettable. You can also learn interesting facts about its extraction and why the lagoon is pink. There is time to take pictures, play in the salt and even climb such a mountain! Children and ‘your social media’ will surely be delighted. If you have the strength for sunbathing in a lively area, we recommend Playa la Mata, where you can eat paella with a view of the sea. For evening ice cream or a drink, we invite you to the garden of The Abbey Tavern restaurant, which is only 5 minutes’ walk from the apartment, where every day at 20:00 you can listen to live music or watch a Flamenco dance show.

A day with nature

Elche

Start your day by seeing Europe’s largest palm grove (Palmeral de Elche). You will never see so many palm trees in one place (over half a million!). It is worth starting from the very centre of the city. Over there you can find extensive, beautifully kept gardens with the oldest palm trees. While walking, don’t miss the Jardín Huerto del Cura botanical garden. The place is in splendid condition too. Almost three thousand palm trees of many species grow here, as well as cacti that are as tall as palm trees! Locate the Imperial Palm.

In the Palm Grove you will find a small Museum of Palms and the city of Elche (Museo del Palmeral), where you will learn how to plant palm trees, what their species are and how many uses they have. And now it’s time to relax and have an amazing experience at Zoo Safari (Rio Safari Elche). A comfortable carriage ride, first-class encounters with lemurs or sea lions!, a water park – it’s all possible right there!

Day: Meeting with the past

Kartagena

An ancient port city where submarines were stationed not so long ago. We recommend the Naval Museum (Museo Naval de Cartagena), followed by an hour-long port cruise (departs every hour). This trip will reveal a panorama full of bunkers and lighthouses. In the city, find out what’s going on with the stone windmills.

At the end, a short walk through the streets will show you the unique faces of Cartagena that will captivate and/or surprise you. On the way back you deserved a portion of health and coolness, i.e. healing mud baths in Lo Pagan (really great fun) and/or a quick break at the Point View at Playa La Glea.

Day: The colours of the Costa Blanca

Alicante

This beautiful city is worth visiting in the afternoon. Alicante is located by the Castillo de Santa Bárbara castle, to the top of which you can also get by elevator. From its area there is a breathtaking panorama of the sea, the port and the whole city. This view will stay with you forever! An obligatory point of a trip to Alicante is a walk along the Explanada de España promenade, which is the symbol of this city.

The huge Ficus Microcarpa trees make an amazing impression. From Explanada, turn towards the astonishing, colourful Barrio de Santa Cruz district located at the foot of the mountain. Lose yourself in the winding streets, feel the energy, admire the details, take great photos! And then it’s time for a cup of coffee and something tasty.

Relaxing trip

Calpe

The first stop is Calpe, which is enchanting with its beach and phenomenal panorama from the viewpoint. On your way back, take a moment to Benidorm and see through the car windows that this city is the New York of Europe in terms of architecture.

Head towards the Enrique Mendoza vineyard, where you can not only taste Spanish wines, but also learn about the winemaking process and take Instagram photos among the grapevines.

Finally, we recommend a visit to the Valor Museo del Chocolate – or the most famous Spanish sweet Turrón (Museo del Turrón). It’s a fun-filled day!

Breathtaking views trip

Guadalest

You can start the day by entering the Canelobre cave, which is at an altitude of 700 metres above sea level. This already guarantees a wonderful panorama. In the cave you will see beautiful stalactites and stalagmites. Inside, you can hear the quiet dripping of water falling from the upper parts of the cave, creating beautiful reflections and ponds. Some of the rocks have transformed into imaginative shapes such as the head of a dragon or a jellyfish.

Time for adrenaline. Head to Relleu where you will cross suspension bridges pinned to the rocky mountains. Emotions guaranteed! Travelling along picturesque landscape mountain roads, you will reach a place that combines history with admiring breathtaking views – the tiny town of Guadalest and the castle of El Castell de Guadalest. Golden eagles often soar above the limestone cliffs, and in autumn you can admire griffon vultures. It is worth buying local handicrafts. It’s a day full of emotions!
